BITS'N'PIECES was
built by William Tallman in Fair Haven NJ. who built boats under the name of
"Ro-No-More Boats". I do not know exactly when BITS'N'PIECES was built, however
I do know that Tallman was building in the time frame of the late 1930's and
early 1940's.
It was in the spring of 1977 that I first saw her in the back yard of my
sister's girl scout leader's back yard in Rumson NJ. At that time she was a
stripped hull with about two inches of leaves in the bilge and sprouting maple
seedlings. The only history that her owner Donald Gahn could give me was that
he had owned her for ten years, and before that he had watched her languishing
for at least five or six years under a railroad trestle at a small boat yard on
the north side of West Front Street on the Navesink River in NJ. This put her
last 'in the water' date at something like 1960.

When It came time for naming her, given that she was put together from bits and
pieces, and there was sometimes not much more than bits and pieces left after a
couple of years of racing a wooden speed skiff I thought that BITS'N'PIECES was
appropriate.
BITS'N'PIECES was lot of fun for waterskiing & pleasure use in the early 1980's. Unfortunately after having to be in storage in less than good conditions for the past 15 years she is now undergoing another extensive rebuilding. Hopefully she will be on the water again for the 2003 summer.
