Stuart Run

May 16 - 18

Skiff Host: Doug Whichello & Jan or call 772-485-1171

Reservations: Caribbean Shores

Since people will be arriving at all different times Friday night, we decided not to plan anything special.  There are any number of really great restaurants in Jensen Beach - just head north on A1A about 1/2 mile and turn onto Jensen Beach Blvd.  To relax, there is a large patio area riverside at the motel to just sit around and talk skiffs to your heart's content.
We're planning on launching the skiffs at the Jensen Beach Bridge Causeway again.  If you keep your boats at the motel dock this year, there will be a $10 overnight boat fee of everyone.  If you all remember, the water can be really shallow with the boats sitting on the bottom sand so we checked the tides for that weekend:  Friday  High tide    9:02 am      low tide   3:46 pm
                Saturday               9:45am                    4:27 pm
                Sunday                10:25am                   5:06 pm
Not the best for us, but did low water ever stop any of you?........   Also, a side note to Roger -  the buoy's on the Inter-coastal are   RED - LAND      GREEN - SEA
Saturday, those who want to go and play, the decision where to go can be made that morning.  Last year, the ride was down to Shrimpers for lunch and you'll probably want to go again this year.  For those who stay behind, there is the pool, just relaxing, going into town, heading up Jensen Beach Blvd to the Treasure Coast Mall, or whatever. For lunch, our thoughts are to order a mess of pizza's dividing the cost up among those eating.  This will be a "Bring Your Own Drinks" for everything, whether it be beer, soda, water or anything else you would want.  Saturday night, around 6:30, we will have a Low Country Boil and a few hot dogs and hamburgers for those who don't eat seafood, again with the cost being divided evenly among those participating.  Sunday will be a fun day with plans being made that morning according to who is staying on for a while.  We didn't make any plans set in concrete, because this a our fun, relaxing weekend to just enjoy being together again.
Hope you've all contacted the Caribbean Shores Motel  (772) 334-4759.  We are their main event this weekend and they are looking forward to the return of the skiffs.
                                                          Doug and Jan!

Memorial Weekend Pig Roast

May 23-26th

Beth & Alan's waterfront retreat on Upper Lake George.

Our host plans on roasting a pig and all the skiffs are invited. Bring your boat, and dock it on Alan's Lake George retreat. There's plenty of waterfront and his private canal running along their property. Alan will have 4 spots for full hook up for campers and I'm sure there is space for dry camping.  Please RSVP NO LATER than May 15th to Mike Howack @ 904-923-7677 so Alan will know how much food to order. The pig roast and fireworks are planned for Sunday May 25th.

On Sunday, we will have a light breakfast, a sandwich lunch and the pig roast for dinner. Then a light breakfast Monday morning. Of course, you may bring your own food or make other arrangements if you prefer. Iced tea will be provided for lunch and dinner, coffee and orange juice for breakfast, otherwise byob.

Sweat & Spray

July 11 - 13

Skiff Host: Tim & Terry Ross

Weekend of July 11, 2008

Check out Parramore's on the web at www.parramores resourt

Tim and Terry Ross (yes-they will be Ross after 2/29!) are hosting this year's Sweat 'n Spray and have researched and visited many locations scouting out the perfect place for this year's gathering!

Parramore's is located in Astor, Florida on the St. John's River ( Directions to Parrimores) just a hip and a hop away from Lake George! By land, it is off Rt. 40 and St. John's River near where Blackwater Inn is located! It's a perfect location for a fun-filled family weekend on land and on water! We can run the boats up/down the St. John's, out into Lake George, over to the springs for fresh swimming and out to couple great lunch locations! Parramore's itself is a "campground" but don't discount is when you read the word campground. They offer 22 cabins -perfect for sharing- (4 are 1 bedroom, 4 are 4 bedrooms, 3 are 3 bedrooms and 11 are 2 bedrooms) and I think it has about 60 RV spots!

Tim and I checked out several of the cabins and they were all absolutely spotless. RV spots include full hook ups of water, sewer, electric, cable, and fire pits. Pets are allowed on leashes. The property has a gorgeous pool, fitness center, tennis court, basket ball court, beautiful pavilion with picnic tables and a nice closed-in pavilion/recreation area if weather is inclement. The "common area" where the pool and pavilion is located is perfect as a gathering spot for us to call home for the weekend. Oh-did I mention the bathroom facilities in the middle of the RV area? They were nicer than some resorts to where I've been!

Regarding Skiffin! Parramore's has their own boat ramp and overnight in-water boat parking/slips (nice sandy area where bows will land softly and good depth where shafts & props will hang safely). There are 20 covered slips at $5.00 plus tax per night and 6 open-air floating docks at no charge. Tim thought their ramp was good for us puttin' in; I thought it might be a little short. However, Tim pointed out the public ramp on Rt. 40 into the St. John's which is great if needed (mile or two away by land...).

May I suggest YOU CALL THEM PRONTO TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS as they have space now for weekend of July 11 (2/21/08 writing of this announcement) but they run full regularly and I can see why! 800-516-2386

Also - we are collecting $15 per head (adult and child alike) to purchase steaks for dinner (1 pp) one night and hotdogs/hamburgers (1pp) for dinner the next night. We'll also get the paper products and proper condiments! The balance of the dinners will be for everyone to bring a dish to share for both nights (therefore, TWO large-sharing family style dishes) and I'd like to know what your contribution of this dish will be in case we need to redistribute ourselves! BYOB. (All cabins have wonderful full kitchens so refrigeration won't be an issue!)

Please email us with any questions you may have or give us a jingle!

Tim's email is Tim and his cell is 352-250-3130. Terry's email is Terry and her cell is 352-223-0167

Please write us "Snail Mail" and let us know your plans and send in $15 per person. I suggest you send checks in case something gets lost in the mail; we'll write back confirming receipt of your check and attendance. Please make checks payable to Tim and Terry Ross. Be sure to provide us with your name, who all is attending, and how we can contact you and write back to you...

Don't delay in calling PARRAMORE's at 800-516-2386. Seriously! They will be booked up before you know it and you really need to make your reservations by mid March at the LATEST... Mention you're with the Skiff Club!
