Daytona 2006

Today was dress rehearsal for the Rolex 24 Hour Race at the Daytona International Speedway. This is the first time in quite some time since skiffs have been on Lake Lloyd. We along with the Classic Race Boat Association could be putting on shows at the speedway during the 2007 season. The Rolex is the first and if all goes well could be followed by the Daytona 500 in February and Pepsi 400 Challenge in July. We would like as many people as possible to have a chance to experience this fantastic arena. All the shows will be aired on Fox 5 and Speedvision which is also displayed on the jumbotrons at the speedway. We were told the Rolex will have 19 hours continuous TV coverage, I asked if we would be on live TV -  Yes, our runs would be taped as we are playing and it will be up to the producer which feed he uses. We will keep our eyes on the jumbotrons to know when we're on.

There were three sporting magazines clicking our pictures today for write-ups and for posters announcing the upcoming event. Don't ask me who they were, the speedway contacts them. If you see our pictures in any of the sports or racing magazines, let us know so we all can share the pictures.

This is the first of many exciting shows we intend on participating in for the upcoming season. Our membership and most of our regattas are open to ALL classes of race boats and their replicas. There are membership applications posted on this web in the "Classic Race Boat section".

The Daytona shows will be viewed by millions of TV and grandstand viewers. If there are any sponsors who would like to participate in our activities, or as an alternative sanctioning association to sanction your event, you can contact us at:
