Frostbite 2005
by Nat Church
pictures to come soon.
In picture perfect weather for January, the skiffheads were ready to get the
boats in to test the waters. For those that arrived early on Friday, Claire
had a wonderful delicious spread at her house. It was great to see everyone!
Paul brought Timmy, and Jeannie had a ball playing games with him. I'm not
sure which one of them had more fun!
Saturday we were at the launch by 9a.m. SHARP? Well......we were all in the
water by 9:30 a.m.!!!
The new Puppy Love looked fantastic! Flying Pony's Bill Russell did a
beautiful deck job. They sure do shine.
We enjoyed the boats for most of Saturday. We were privileged to have with us
Cheryl Brintnall from the Antique & Classic Boat Magazine for a wild photo
shoot. (Be sure to watch for the pictures in an upcoming edition.)
Others to join us were: Dave Rees (Soulmates) former Hog Wild, Cathy Shuler (Wizzbang),
I might add here that she is the only women to own her own boat so far, and I
hope more will follow her example), Roger Harris (Breakin Water), Tom and Fran
Wark, (Jersey Girl), Mike and Terry Howick, (Re Run), Dave Yaeger, (River
Rat). Although Dave was having engine trouble, he did get to run for a time on
Saturday, Fred Ziegler (Have No Fear), Cliff and Kathy Ennis, (Sun Dog), Jon
Hoaglin, (Bad Attitude). Skip and Esther brought up the Century, which ran
great, and they had an absolute blast. Esther was especially happy, since it
doesn't go as fast as the skiff! Timmy even got to drive it. Paul is hoping
to have his skiff, (Orange Crush), ready for Mt. Dora. Paul Nowack brought
Heartbeat and Bill Oakley joined in with Wo-Jo. Phil and Jeannie had their ski
boat (I'm Back) and I understand they received a 10 when we went for some
pictures. . I'm sure everyone will be anxiously waiting to see those
shots! Dave and I were also airborne...what a thrill!!!
We stopped for lunch at Gators, and then ran more boats afterward.
Saturday night it was back to Gators for a surprise birthday party for Skip.
He really was surprised when they brought in the cake. We all had a wonderful
time and alot of fun.
Some of us hung around on Sunday to take a last few spins and go though the
Dora canal which is always beautiful with wildlife. The weather couldn't have
been better and I really didn't want to go home.
Oh well....Back to reality! Until next time,
Sea ya.
