I invite you to visit our BLL Preservation Society page to help ensure the memory of Bernie & Jane Little live on though the Annual Memorial Regatta in Tavares, Florida. Powerboat racing was the love of Mr. Little and all it stood for. You can help. You can make a difference with your donation. Help bring powerboat racing back to the State of Florida. Message from the President
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families and wonderful and joyous Holiday Season! Additionally I would like to bring you up-to-date on the many activities that have taken place over the past year as well as upcoming events we have planned for the 2008 season.
During the year we have held many organizational meetings where we have established rules and guidelines for our organizational structure as well as our events. Additionally, we have opened our doors to new classes of boats, Donzi’s and Free For All Runabouts. Our membership has grown over the year and we currently have 179 members in our organization. We have over 100 boats representing our group as well.
We have purchased a lot of operational equipment during the year as well. From race buoys to anchors and lines and safety equipment – everything needed to run a regatta.
As far as events go, in January we had a team of 14 skiffs run at Lake Lloyd at the Daytona International Speedway. The event was very successful for all who participated and more so for the spectators. We continue to keep the lines of communication open with the Speedway for future events. In March, we held the First Annual Bernie and Jane Little Memorial Classic Raceboat Regatta with 34 boats in attendance. We teamed with the City of Tavares and plans are underway for the Second Annual Regatta in early April 2008. This month, after careful planning with Fantasy of Flight in Polk County, Florida; we held another successful event with 45 registered boats for 2 fun filled, jammed packed days of burning gas and running our boats. We are planning on returning to the Fantasy of Flight Roar ‘n Soar event next year, so please stay tuned to our website’s Calendar of Events for all events and details (www.classicraceboatassoc.com
). As you can see our participation at events is growing and we need your participation to keep it going!
Our club operates on a yearly membership which starts on January 1st. Enclosed you will find a renewal application for completion. Please forward your completed application to the address located on the bottom of the form. If you need additional applications, please feel free to visit our website and download a copy. I am happy to say that we have decided to keep our membership fee at $25.00 for the 2008 season!
Let’s keep the fun going and growing!
Sincerely
Thomas D’Eath
