Jersey Girl is a replica of a 1963 Harold 'Pappy' Seaman designed hull. George
Wolcot was the first to build this hull from wood. My guess was in the middle
sixties. Joe
Zbranick was the first to build this hull from fiberglass, my guess the late
sixties or early seventies. He named this boat "Orange Crate".
I guess he and others raced this boat through the 70's and 80's. According to Skip Gillam, the boat was abandoned then recovered from a swamp in south Florida in 1996. Some time later, it was decided to build a new mold from this hull and this was completed by a fellow of the name of Felton. Skip, acquired the mold from Felton, made several modifications and a new hull was made in 1999 and JS-8 was completed in 2000 and named "Last Blast".
I acquired JS-8 in March of 2002 from Skip and renamed her to "Jersey Girl". Currently Jersey Girl resides in our boat house on Lake Beauclaire, Tavares, FL. She is used about two to three times a week.
