Jupiter Rex was built from prints. I recall David Beach was the name on the print dated May 1953 my dad, William T Sprague was the builder. It took 2 years of weekends to build in our back yard in Union, NJ. Steam bent oak frames with copper rivets, ply bottom, chines were oak, and the bulkheads were ply also, he added extra sawed oak frames on the lower 1/3 of the hull for more strength. A man called William Dahmer (?) from Keyport did the strut, rudder and steering box, he had a small foundry there. Dad built everything else. She had a 3 blade prop and as far as I know was never raced, way to heavy. Notice, she has a curved transom!

We ran the boat out of Ocean Beach unit 1. She had a grey 225 fireball engine and was planked up with African mahogany with Philippine mahogany decks. Dad sold her about 1965-66  to a family from Bloomfield, NJ they also had a house in Ocean Beach.

The photo at the left shows the newly installed cavitation plate in 1960.
