Leach Family Tree
provided by Doug Whichello
Mike Leach, owner of Orange County Muffler Shop and a big Cracker Box owner and driver went into partnership with Jack Lawrence, then living in Incline Village, at the North end of Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
They bought out Sked (of J&S) in mid to late 1983 and loaded the J&S mold onto Jacks car carrier trailer towed by his 4X4 Chevy Blazer and brought it out west.
There they had Limanator Boats lay up 4 hauls. The First of which just may be the first Jersey Speed Skiff built out West and may be even West of the Mississippi. It was sold for $5,000.00 as a complete set up less prop, shaft and engine. It was named HOLLYWOOD STAR and numbered JS-58 and raced from March 1984 till July 4th 1999 where the LAST race of Jersey Speed Skiffs was put on in the WEST at Marine Stadium, Long Beach, CA.
