Original owner was someone from Keyport, NJ. who
sold it to Bob Friebaum, Monmouth Beach, NJ in
1979. It was orange and white and named "Orange Juice" JS-22. Bob used it
one day as an early type 'personal watercraft', jumped a big wake, stuffed it,
and broke 7 ribs… Bob sold her to Joe Masica,
Monmouth Beach, NJ in 1981. Joe had fun with it on the river for over 10
years then sold it to Tom Wenner, Oceanport, NJ in
1992.
Tom painted it green and white, renumbered her to JS-12 and called her 'Pure Adrenalin'. Tom used it on the river for one summer, then converted it to APBA race ready, campaigned it for one season and won the Region 3 Rookie of the Year in 1994. He wanted a lighter hull, so he sold it to Gary Willhelm, Long Branch, NJ in 1995.

Gary painted it Cherry Pearl Shimeren (it’s
present color) and ran it with a 327. In June 2000, having never even taken a
ride in a JS (!), I convinced him to sell it to me. After using a clunker 283
for one season, I had a 350 crate engine thrown in for my use on the beautiful
Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers. Every time out I
take a speed run towards the Molly Pitcher Inn and roll it up – thinking back
to the glory days of the Jersey Speed Skiffs running at Red Bank - the
National Sweepstakes Regatta.
The name 'Lowe Blow' came from my first race boat, a stock outboard runabout,
in 1980. The painter asked me what named I wanted and I responded "surprise
me". I showed up
and there was 'Lowe Blow'. Having raced Stock Outboards and small OPC tunnel
boats, I had experienced some interesting rides – but is there anything as
cool as a JS ride?
My older
brother Jack has been my rider when we participated at the APBA Gold Cup
events in Detroit the past two years.
