Jersey Speed Skiffs at Cypress Gardens
November 1 - 3, 2002
'Twas the night before Cypress, and all through the lake,
There were just a few ripples and minimum wake.

Twelve Jersey Speed Skiffs arrived one by one,
With a single goal of just having some fun.

The participants swam each morning in the pool,
There were no repairs ... no need for a tool.

The weather was warm and the sun did shine bright,
After a day of boating they served us hot dogs that night.

The drive by was planned with the skiffs in the rear,
And
as they went by the crowds broke into cheer!

On! Puppy Love, River Rat, Wo Jo and Sir Alter Ego,
Just
to name a few.
Come! Hot Tub, Hog Wild, Falcon and Jo-Carol Too.
Go! Sun Dog, Breakin' Water, Jersey Girl, and Heartbeat,
With a thunderous roar they gave the spectators a treat.

On Sunday we cruised to the Harborside as a bunch,
We left behind 'the woodies' and went to lunch.
Our
engines roared as we cracked the throttles loose,
There was no stopping us ... there was no truce.
Through each lake we crossed we did not toil,
As everyone knew the water would boil.
We cruised single file through the canals,
After all the noise
the fishermen threw in the towel.

We arrived at the restaurant and took over the beach,
Skip stepped off his boat and started to preach.
After we ate we got under way,
And everyone knew it was now time to play.
After passing the canals we all lined up in place,
The
camera was rolling - is this now a race?
Everyone thought Doug Apy ran out of gas,
So they continued on and kicked his ass!
Let's raise our glasses and give a good cheer,
To our skiff family we’ll see at Cypress again next year!

Has anyone seen my Barbi, my Barbi boat?
