Memorial
Day Picnic
(Pig Roast) at
Alan and Beth's House
May 2006
On Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend Terry Branch invited all the local Florida skiffs over to her family's house in northern Florida. This is the second year that we have gone to Alan and Beth's Annual Memorial Day PARTY!
Although
34 skiffs couldn't show up we had more than 14 representatives partake in the
festivities! It was a gorgeous day as the skiffers took turns running the
party guests on beautiful Lake George - giving rides and having fun!
The food was great, the weather was better, but the company was the best. The pig was cooking all day as we moved from brunch, to lunch and then finally to dinner.
Many first skiff rides were given on this day and an equal amount of 'potential' new skiff owners were asking the usual questions, where do I get one, how much do they cost, how often do you guys run... Aaahhh! The sweet smell of fun, fumes, and camaraderie!
A special thanks go out to Tom Wark for putting on a personal firework display, Mike and Terry for extending an invitation and especially to Beth and Alan for accepting us graciously into their home!
We look forward to next year's event as another quality annual event in skiffdom.
And finally - not only did nothing happen in 1897, but nothing happened in 2006 as well!
