Sail Jacksonville
May 17 & 18, 2003
As told by Ester Gillam
The
Sail Jacksonville show was a very nice show and Charlie Sellers was very
accommodating to all of us that attended. The skiffs were well received and the
committee is already planning for our return next year.
There was something for everyone to enjoy to enjoy. We had the Antique Boat
Parade and races of all kinds--a Viking race, a remote sailboat race and even a
boat building race. We had pirates with canons and tall ships defending their
stand.
There were music bands, shops to visit, tours to take, places to eat, tall ships
to see and fireworks at night.
We had lunch on Saturday at Ruby Tuesday and dinner at Benny's Steak and
Seafood. The chef at Benny's joined us at the table that evening and even
bought a special dessert for us.
The Adams Mark is a new hotel with all amenities and is conveniently located
right at the docks.
