Annual Turkey Run 2005
It all began on Friday night with Phil and Jean Jordan hosting an early arrivers get together. Saturday morning a total of 15 boats (13 skiffs) gathered for our annual Turkey Run. Everyone brought some sort of leftover Thanksgiving dinner and/or made something special to share with the group. We met at Trimble Park in Mt Dora, had a feast organized by Jean Swift and Jean Jordan, then headed out for a 6 stop poker run with the last card being distributed at dinner later that evening.
Paul Nowak (you know we love you) got beat 6 times on Saturday - first by Roger, then by Marty, Dick Daly got in on the action too, and so did Billy Russell, finally Mike Howick. After all that - he didn't even win the poker hand - bad day for Paul!
The weather was in the mid 70's and the water was flat. Everyone ran well except for Freddie who was towed in and Roger who was taking his last run for the day also had to be towed in to the ramp.
The big winners of the day were Timmy (Skip's grandson) and Mike Howick - Congratulations and remember you owe us a drink!
Service at dinner was a bit disappointing for most of us especially since we made reservations. We will research this issue for future outings. We'll keep this short & sweet and let the pictures tell the story. For those up north in the frozen tundra, our next outing is January 7th. come on down.
